Supportive Skill-Building
Giving you the extra boost you need and deserve.
Build your confidence.
Supportive skill-building is provided by our trained interns for youth 12+ and adults. This is a short to long-term intervention used to improve coping strategies, communication, problem-solving skills, daily living skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to identify emotions.
Supportive skill building usually lasts 3-12 months to either give you a boost while you work on tough stuff with another therapist, or on its own for mild mental health concerns. Many clients utilize supportive skill-building to:
Prepare for or receive additional support while trauma processing
Reserve space for therapy to be focused on processing rather than developing skills
Prevent or step down from a higher level of care, like a hospital setting, PHP (partial hospitalization program), or IOP (intensive outpatient program)
Develop necessary skills in an affordable, welcoming, and warm environment
Spend a season of life really focusing on themselves, their well-being, and their mental health
Take control of your life.
Clients can receive supportive skill-building services in a group or individual setting. Most clients participate once or twice per week, but daily support is available.
Some topics that may be covered in your work with one of our skills specialists include:

With youth, supportive skill building includes coaching, mentoring, and training to achieve more age-appropriate behaviors by using games, videos, and art.
With adults, some of these techniques may be used in addition to worksheets, journaling, practicing skills, and reflecting on challenges around these.
Supportive skill-building can also be used in conjunction with work by a therapist at another clinic if both providers are able to work together to coordinate your care.
This service is available to clients with many insurances including Medicaid. Affordable private pay rates are also available.
