Olivia Buch

MSW Intern

(University of Southern California)

Olivia received her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco in 2021 where she majored in International Studies with minors in Cultural Anthropology and African Studies. She is currently receiving her Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California with a concentration on working with children, youth, and families. Over the years, Olivia has worked with children, adolescents, and their families in a variety of nonprofit organizations, as a nanny, and as a behavioral therapist. Olivia is a passionate and dedicated social worker with experience in mental health, case management, and advocacy and support services for many groups, including the LGBTQIA+ community and disabled community.

Olivia utilizes a trauma-informed approach to therapy that is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and prioritizes creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, validated, and respected. Olivia is an LGBTQIA+ affirming social worker and is dedicated to supporting the queer community in her work.  She believes in creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Central to this is the recognition of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the healing process.

Olivia loves working with adolescents and teenagers, aged 12+, as well as their families, and adults. She integrates evidence-based techniques such as DBT, CBT, TST, client-centered, strengths-based approach, trauma informed care, and mindfulness practices to help clients build resilience and regulate their emotions. Olivia emphasizes collaboration and empowerment, recognizing clients as experts in their own lives, and working collaboratively with them to explore their strengths, values, and goals.

Olivia grew up in Southern California but now calls San Francisco, CA home. She lives with her two cats, Ravioli and Dolce. When she isn’t working or studying, she enjoys spending time near the water, crafting, watching movies, cheering on the Dodgers, and attending concerts.
